Space for something different

Less caught in what-ifs.
More here, with your life.

Room for a conversation, a quiet moment, or something you enjoy. Together, we can explore what helps you feel more present in the life you want to live.

  • A woman enjoying a book in a sunlit leafy courtyard
    A moment to be here.
  • An East Asian man pausing beside a lake on a quiet woodland walk
Room to find your own pace.
  • Two friends talking warmly together on a park bench
    Connection beyond the what-ifs.

Understanding anxiety & overwhelm

When your thoughts
keep looking ahead.

You might look as though you are managing, while inside you are replaying conversations, anticipating problems, or struggling to switch off.

Anxiety can show up in your thoughts, your body, and the choices you make. You may notice tension, restless nights, or a pull to avoid situations that feel uncertain. What feels manageable one day can feel like too much the next.

Some anxiety is a normal part of life. When it becomes persistent, distressing, or starts limiting everyday activities, it may help to talk with a professional. Feeling overwhelmed does not, on its own, mean you have an anxiety disorder.

We can begin with your experience, without expecting you to explain it perfectly.

  • Make sense of your experience.

Explore the thoughts, sensations, and situations connected to your anxiety. Notice what tends to set worry in motion and what has helped you through before.

  • Look at the patterns around worry.

Consider how anticipation, checking, or avoiding uncertainty may shape your days. We can approach these patterns with curiosity and explore different ways of responding.

  • Practise ways to meet difficult moments.

Work together on skills that fit your needs, such as noticing thought patterns, grounding your attention, and responding to strong emotions. There is room to practise and adjust.

  • Take steps toward what matters.

Identify manageable ways to reconnect with the people, activities, and choices that are important to you. We can review the pace together as your confidence and circumstances change.

Anxiety & overwhelm FAQ

A little more clarity
before you begin.

A few answers to help you consider the next step, at your own pace.

Do I need an anxiety diagnosis to begin?

No. You can reach out because worry feels persistent, you are feeling overwhelmed, or you want to understand what is happening. You do not need a diagnosis or the right words before starting a conversation.

What if I do not know why I feel anxious?

That is something we can explore together. You may notice a feeling in your body, a repeating thought, or situations that leave you unsettled without knowing why. You can begin with whatever you have noticed.

Will I have to face everything I am afraid of straight away?

We begin by understanding your experience and discussing the approach with you. If working toward situations you have been avoiding is part of your goals, you and your therapist can agree on manageable steps and review how the work is feeling. You can ask questions and discuss pacing throughout.

What approaches might we use?

Depending on your needs, therapy may draw on approaches such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), alongside practical ways to respond to worry and strong emotions. Your therapist will explain the approach, consider your preferences, and discuss what you would like to work toward.

What happens in the first session?

The first session gives us space to hear what has been difficult, how anxiety is affecting your days, and what you hope might change. You can ask questions about therapy and share at a pace that feels comfortable. Together, we can decide where to begin.

Can I access this support virtually in Ontario?

Yes. Stoneglass offers virtual psychotherapy across Ontario. A free 15–20 minute phone consultation gives you space to ask about fit, fees, availability, and whether virtual sessions suit your needs.
